Somehow, 15 years have passed since Minecraft first launched. If that makes you feel a bit old, this writer can relate. In years since the game’s release, it has become a huge mainstay in the industry and is even used for educational purposes in school. It seems that Mohjang and Microsoft aren’t content to rest on their laurels, however, as they will be partnering with Netflix to create a new animated series based on the property. Here’s the brief stinger that was shown off:
There aren’t a lot of details to be had at this point, but it does look, at least based on the trailer, that the visual style of the show will be mimicking the Minecraft game to an extent. WildBrain, the studio that has worked on the Sonic Prime series, will be handling animation duties here and will develop an original story with new characters for the show.
In the meanwhile, fans can look forward to the Minecraft movie starring Jack Black set to debut in April of 2025.
