Nintendo has announced that it will be bringing one of its iconic retail locations to California next year. In 2025, fans will be able to head to Union Square to shop at Nintendo San Francisco. The company said the goal of opening this new location is to “[provide] a way for a wide range of visitors from near and far to experience the world of Nintendo, its products, and characters.”
Nintendo SF will be joining the New York store as the only two Nintendo-branded retail locations in the United States. It’s an interesting decision to select San Francisco given the rampant crime downtown, which has resulted in the closures of 95 stores and counting all throughout Union Square and the city at large. Safety is also a huge concern for those visiting Union Square, as homelessness, drug use, and theft are rife throughout the area.
Once we get an official opening date for Nintendo San Francisco, we’ll let you all know.
