FIFA has teamed up with Rocket League to launch an exciting esports World Cup.

During Sundays Rocket League Champion Series, FIFA announced that 16 nations will participate in the tournament, each represented by a team of 3 players and 1 substitute. These countries will be chosen based on their players’ involvement in past Rocket League major events.

According to Christian Volk, FIFA’s director of eFootbal and gaming, this is a “…significant new chapter for FIFAe” that will “offer an innovative platform for FIFA’s member associations to compete in one of the most popular esports title.”

This tournament will be FIFA’s inaugural event since ending its partnership with EA in 2022, after opting not to renew their licensing agreement.
